STOP THE SQUEEZE! RALLY TO SUPPORT UPPER WEST SIDE AND HARLEM DISTRICT 3 SCHOOLS AND TO REJECT SUCCESS CHARTER CO-LOCATIONS IN PUBLIC SCHOOL SPACE

Eva Moscowitz’s Success Charter Network co-locations have been squeezing public school kids out of their buildings at PS149, PS241, PS123 and across the City.  Now she and the DOE are targeting to co-locate their new Upper West Success Elementary School at the Brandeis High School Complex, and Harlem Success 1 Middle School at PS 149 and Wadleigh Secondary.  Elected officials, parents, students, educators, and community leaders from throughout District 3 and the City will stage a rally to support District 3 schools and to oppose the proposed expansion of charter schools in desperately needed public school space.

This rally will take place immediately preceding DOE’s public hearing on the proposed co-location of the Upper West Success Academy Charter School at the Brandeis High School Complex.

WHAT:      Rally to support District 3 public schools, to keep Brandeis Complex for high school students, and to allow PS149, FDA II and Wadleigh to grow and to continue to educate all of our community’s students

WHO:        Elected officials, parents, students, educators, community groups and leaders

          WHEN:      5:00pm, Tuesday January 25, 2011
